Guddi                                                                     Guddi, which means a doll, is what her family called her since the day she was born. She was a shy, and conservative yet courageous girl who belonged to a small village named Rohrai in Haryana, India. Her family relations were no different from those of other families in the state in the ‘60s. Her mother and her aunt were married to her father and her uncle. As a child, Guddi always performed above average in her school. She was the most brilliant child in her family. Her aunt (mother’s sister) would frequently visit Guddi’s house, leaving behind a bunch of old clothes for Guddi, her siblings, and her mother. Guddi was mesmerized with her aunt’s personality. She was a nurse who used to dress up like a fine lady. Guddi would often think to herself “one day I’m going to wear clothes just like maasi’s (aunt)”. As Guddi grew up and the village’s only school failed to provide her with education aft

Did you just ask "Why me? " Here's why.

To be honest,  I've been one of those who has always asked this question in every wrong situation I found myself in. It was all well when I followed the ideal way, did things right, did everything to the best of my ability, put my heart and soul into everything I did, and expected good results. But you know what? I just forgot a very simple thing. It wasn't me but my conditioning that made me think about the results. The world has always made us fear the results. We have always been too much obsessed with the results, not only of ours but the results of the rest of the world as well. And we always ask "why me". I got my answer to this question a year ago, and I found out that I was just supposed to carry on with my work. That's it! The results were not in my hands. They never were. And failing is a part of life. Success gives you happiness but failure teaches you life lessons which

Her rebirth

As the day approached, she found herself sinking in, the way it has been for the past few years is what made her feel dejected. It was a harsh end and a tough beginning. She had fell down a lot of times. But, this time she rode the horse herself, to save her own world alone. She woke up as the clock struck 12, with all the messages pouring in, as it was her day, as she was special to so many people out there. The walls that once had made all the true love unreachable to her had broken down as she decided to lift the curtain and set her stage of life on fire with the brilliance she had in her eyes, the flamboyance she carried this time. She roared like a lioness of the jungle, ready to make the rules of her own, as she owned the whole world. She let the sunshine reach the deepest nook and corner of her soul with her arms wide open. She is now what the world had failed to see, she is now the queen, the only one of her kind. She is not the conventional roses and dresses kinds, she is

The Reunion

She was relaxing on her bed when she saw her in her little, above the ankles, white and green striped pants and a yellow sweatshirt with a dog face pasted in the front. Since it was an exhausting day for her, she just kept watching her. The little girl was full of energy, smiling with all her yet to be shed square shaped milk teeth, curly dark brown hair, twinkling eyes and chubby cheeks. The girl ran up to her and sat down in her lap. Although, she was tired, she felt a great shift in her energies as soon as she felt the touch of the little girl. The little girl started telling her stories of how she sometimes felt very lonely, she didn't have any friends at school, how her classmates judged and teased her because she had curly and messy hair, how she would strive hard to win a trophy to bring a smile on her parents' face, how she sometimes felt not loved, not cared for, how she felt lonely in a family with seven people and a classroom with forty students, how she found s
