The Reunion

She was relaxing on her bed when she saw her in her little, above the ankles, white and green striped pants and a yellow sweatshirt with a dog face pasted in the front. Since it was an exhausting day for her, she just kept watching her. The little girl was full of energy, smiling with all her yet to be shed square shaped milk teeth, curly dark brown hair, twinkling eyes and chubby cheeks. The girl ran up to her and sat down in her lap. Although, she was tired, she felt a great shift in her energies as soon as she felt the touch of the little girl. The little girl started telling her stories of how she sometimes felt very lonely, she didn't have any friends at school, how her classmates judged and teased her because she had curly and messy hair, how she would strive hard to win a trophy to bring a smile on her parents' face, how she sometimes felt not loved, not cared for, how she felt lonely in a family with seven people and a classroom with forty students, how she found solace in her text books and fairy tales. She told her everything while wiping off her big teardrops with her little hands. She told her how she missed her support. She found herself crying too, as the little girl cried her heart out in her lap. She hugged the little girl with all her love and cried even more, apologizing for not being there for her, for letting her face her fears alone, for not loving her enough, for letting her feel dejected, for making her feel that she didn't have anyone. She told her, " I promise I'm never gonna let anyone hurt you. I promise I'll always love you no matter what. I promise I'll always be there. I promise I'm not gonna let your childhood die. You'll always be protected, loved and cared for. I'm sorry for everything that you had to go through. You didn't deserve any of this. You're the almighty's best creation and God never leaves you alone and neither would I." She hugged  her even more compassionately, crying even more, and feeling lighter even more. As soon as she made her promises and decided to love her even more, the little girl disappeared. She just felt a bright white light all around her. She opened her eyes and cried. And then she smiled back at her child self, how she hated those white and green pants the most. Now she could feel she was above what she was yesterday, happier, lighter and peaceful. She knew she had let go of her childhood scars. She had started healing herself. She was happy that her inner child was still alive, still believes in magic, still believes in fairy tales. It had been a long time since she was this happy. It was the best gift ever, her child self.
